Description

The float valve is the component that regulates the water level inside the tank of a mains-fed water cooler (supplied directly from the tap, without a bottle). The float rises as the tank fills and, once it reaches the correct height, closes the inlet valve to stop the water supply. As the level drops through consumption, the float lowers and reopens the supply, keeping the level steady without any manual intervention.

A worn or stuck float valve is one of the most common causes of leaks or overflow in mains-fed coolers, so it should be replaced as soon as a problem is noticed.
